Mountain Snowfield, SvalbardFlat light and low cloud stripped all the colour out of this mountainside, leaving nothing but texture and form. The wind has scoured deep striations into the snowfield, carving diagonal lines that run the full face of the slope. Below them, a dark rocky ridge cuts across the frame, separating two fields of snow and ice. Avalanche tracks descend toward it like drainage channels.
