Oklahoma State Pistol Pete Retro JoggersIn 1923, Oklahoma A&M was looking to name a new mascot. It wasn't long until a few students decided that Frank B. Eaton would be the perfect inspiration. A true cowboy, Eaton had earned the nickname Pistol Pete after winning a cavalry contest at Fort Gibson. The school officially adopted Pistol Pete as its mascot in 1958, and the rest is history.
