Apple | Red McIntoshWe have been growing this Canadian variety since I first planted our espalier orchard. They crop reliably year after year, requiring thinning of the fruit because they are so productive. Our children refer to them as the polishing apples because the ruby red skin polishes up to a rosy shine. The flesh is pure white. The McIntosh apple has a soft thin peel and the fruit itself, though crisp is not hard. When picked directly from the tree in early
