Sheep, the Black Valley, Co. KerryThe Black Valley is one of the most remote inhabited places in Ireland. It was the last valley in the country to get electricity, in 1976. The mountains of the MacGillycuddy's Reeks close it off from the rest of Kerry, and on an overcast day like this one, the place feels genuinely isolated. I like how the sheep anchor this composition. They're scattered across the rocky hillside in the foreground, white with red markings, completely indifferent to
