Trollkonufingur, Faroe IslandsTrollkonufingur is a sea stack on the island of Vgar in the Faroe Islands, a single finger of basalt standing apart from the cliff face. The name translates as "troll woman's finger" and when you see it rising from that churning North Atlantic water, the name makes perfect sense. I made this photograph as a break opened in heavy cloud to the west, sending low golden light across the surface of the sea. The spray lifting off the waves caught that light
