Carndonough CrossCarndonough Cross. This ringless cross of Carndonough, was traditionally regarded as on of the earliest cross because of the simple incised technique of carving and the broad ribbon interlace. A later date, sometime in the 9th century, is now preferred. The east face has two figured scenes. The larger of the two is the "The Crucifixion" with angels above and below Christ's outstretched arms. The lower scene is thought to be the three holy women
